When two satellites crashed in space Wednesday, it was unprecedented -- the largest orbital collision yet -- but it wasn't exactly unexpected. We knew this was going to happen eventually and this is it -- this was the big one," said Nicholas Johnson, chief scientist at the Orbital Debris Office at NASA's Johnson Space Center. When the two large satellites crossing paths at hypervelocity -- each weighing more than 1,000 pounds and going 17,500 miles an hour -- collided Wednesday over Siberia at an altitude of 491 miles, it was the first time there had ever been such a crash in space. No one knows yet why the Iridium communications satellite and an old Russian Cosmos satellite ended up on a collision course.

Donnie's Remarks...
These two news stories remind me of a key prophecy sign recorded in the Book of Revelation.
Revelation 11:9-10 (ESV)
9 For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb,
10 and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth.
Sometime in the future (during Daniel’s 70th week) for three and one-half days, the whole world will gloat over the Two Witnesses dead bodies. This verse implies some worldwide display, now made possible by television and satellite technology.
Daniel 12:4 (ESV)
4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase."
There are a couple of different ways this verse can be interpreted. It could mean that those who will profit most by the prophecies of Daniel will be those who are living in the end time. In other words, a major portion of prophecies in the book of Daniel will not be understood "until the time of the end." Daniel is informing us that as the time of the end approaches, many would run ‘to and fro’ through the scriptures, comparing text with text, and better understand the unfulfilled prophecies that will be fulfilled in ‘Daniel’s 70th week’. This interpretation seems to fit the context that some people will understand and be ready for the Lord when He returns.
Daniel 12:10 (ESV) 10 Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.
On the other hand, many Bible scholars believe that this prophecy also applies to an increasing knowledge of science, medicine, travel, and technology. Indeed, we are living in "
The Information Age" where computers, computerized machinery, fiber optics, communication satellites, and the Internet are front page stories that characterize our modern world. It is said that 80% - 90% percent of all the scientists who have ever lived are alive now. Daniel may not have understood the magnitude of this prophecy, but today we see its fulfillment as knowledge is exploding in all directions.
I think both interpretations are correct and alert us to the possibility that we are living in the time of the end!
