Officials in the Israeli Defense Ministry told The Jerusalem Post that while they prefer to act in consultation with the U.S., they are preparing plans that would allow them to act alone. "It is always better to coordinate," a senior Defense Ministry official told the newspaper. "But we are also preparing options that do not include coordination." It would be difficult, but not impossible, to launch a strike against Iran without permission from the U.S., as the American Air Force controls the Iraqi airspace Israel's jets would have to enter on a bombing mission. "There are a wide range of risks one takes when embarking on such an operation," a senior Israeli official told the Post. Iran, the world's fourth-largest crude oil producer, maintains that its uranium enrichment activities are aimed at making fuel for a network of planned electricity-generating nuclear power plants and not for developing weapons. Israel is drawing up plans to attack Iran's nuclear facilities and is prepared to launch a strike without backing from the US. Iran is well on its way to developing an atomic bomb that their president has stated he will use to drop on Israel and "wipe them off the map." The most recent Israeli intelligence reports estimate that Iran will have enough enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon in late 2009. Ezekiel 38 & 39 predicts a future final attack of an Islamic coalition of nations upon Israel. One of the nations that is listed in Ezekiel's prophecy is Persia, which changed its name to Iran in 1935.

Glen Beck, in a recent interview with Joel Rosenberg summarized it this way: "Ahmadinejad openly prays for the return of the Mahdi. The Mahdi is the Shiite Muslim version of the second coming of Jesus Christ. He believes he can hasten the Mahdi`s return by creating the right conditions for it. Unfortunately for us, those conditions are pretty simple: chaos, war, bloodshed, because only then can the Mahdi return with peace and justice. Think about that. Ahmadinejad must usher in chaos and war before he can fulfill his destiny. That is why he wants a nuclear program; that is why he threatens Israel and the West." Ahmadinejad's actions are driven by the belief that the Coming of the Twelfth Imam, the Islamic Messiah, will occur in the next two or three years!
