Prophecy in the News.  By Chris Perver.  August 1, 2009

The Temple Institute, an organization which has tasked itself with the construction of the Third Temple, has embarked on an ambitious project to recreate the altar of sacrifice. The Temple Institute celebrated Tisha B'Av, the anniversary on which both the First and Second Jewish Temples were destroyed, by laying the foundation stones for the altar. As it is currently forbidden for the Jewish people to build on the Temple Mount itself, the Temple Institute have decided to construct a smaller version of the altar of sacrifice, which can be transported to the site at a later date. Jewish rabbis took stones from the Dead Sea area, which should have never been tooled by man according to the Mosaic law, and laid them within a fenced area.  Read More

Donnie's Remarks...

It seems "temple fever" is rising in Israel.  If the temple begins to be rebuilt, how will it affect your life?  What would you do if this occurred?  Remember, the Temple is necessary for Daniel's 70th Week to proceed.  Some believe the temple will be a completely new structure.  Others say the structure could be quite small, as simple as an altar for animal sacrifices. One of the key Prophecy Signs that the End times is close at hand is the rebuilding of the Third Temple.  The First Temple was built by King Solomon in the 10th century BCE, and destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. The Second Temple was built 70 years later, enlarged during the first century by Herod, and destroyed by the Romans in the year 70 AD.

I ran across a quote from Isaac Newton; "About the Time of the End, a body of men will be raised up who will turn their attention to the Prophecies, and insist upon their literal interpretation, in the midst of much clamor and opposition."

I suppose I would be one of those men.  Newton understood that one of the first principles of interpretation (i.e. our hermeneutic) is that all scripture is to be taken in its customary, natural and normal sense (i.e. literal), allowing for obvious symbolism and figures of speech.  That said, Daniel gives us a very literal picture of what the future holds for the Temple Mount... Daniel 9:27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."

I look for upcoming peace negotiations to include permission for the Jewish nation to build a third temple on the Temple Mount.
