20 Key Prophecy Signs » The Geomagnetic Apocalypse -- And How To Stop It
Wired.com. By Brandon Keim. April 24, 2009.
For scary speculation about the end of civilization in 2012, people usually turn to followers of cryptic Mayan prophecy, not scientists. But that's exactly what a group of NASA-assembled researchers described in a chilling report issued earlier this year on the destructive potential of solar storms. Entitled "Severe Space Weather Events - Understanding Societal and Economic Impacts," it describes the consequences of solar flares unleashing waves of energy that could disrupt Earth's magnetic field, overwhelming high-voltage transformers with vast electrical currents and short-circuiting energy grids.
Needless to say, shorting out the electrical grid would cause major disruptions to developed nations and their economies. The ultra-high voltage transformers, the 500,000- and 700,000-kilovolt transformers, are particularly vulnerable. The United States uses more of these than anyone else. Worse yet, the next period of intense solar activity is expected in 2012, and coincides with the presence of an unusually large hole in Earth's geomagnetic shield, meaning we'll have less protection than usual from the solar flares.
The report received relatively little attention, perhaps because of 2012's supernatural connotations. Mayan astronomers supposedly predicted that 2012 would mark the calamitous "birth of a new era."

Isn't it interesting how different religions around the world are predicting imminent End Times scenarios. Mayan astronomers predicted that 2012 would mark the calamitous "birth of a new era." According to Joel Rosenberg, the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, understands that there is an apocalyptic, genocidal death cult running Iran right now. The leaders of Iran believe that the end of the world is here. They believe that the Islamic messiah, the 12th Imam, is coming imminently - that's the word they're using, "imminent." And they believe their mission in life is to hasten or speed up the coming of the Islamic messiah by destroying Judeo-Christian civilizations as we know it. Even the world's greatest scientists are predicting the possibility of a coming apocalyptic destruction. What in the world is going on?
The book of Daniel and the book of Revelation were written to give Christians advance warning of God's judgments that would precede Jesus' return to this earth. Jesus described them very clearly in Matthew 24. With these inspired prophecy plans, in a very real and literal sense, we will be able to predict the events of Daniel's 70th week. Science will confirm them too. We should be able to sort through all the confusion and understand much more than others.
Revelation 19:10 (NIV)
For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
We also need to realize that Jesus has allowed the Devil to see His perfect End Times battle plan. I think the enemy has put together all these unbiblical End Times scenarios to confuse, scare and take people's eyes off God's true plan. Unfortunately, Satan's deception has even caused some in the Church to stumble. End Times discussions can be very divisive, causing churches to avoid them. Some reduce Revelation to allegory, making them indifferent and unprepared for what's soon to occur. Many churches fix their hope on escaping it all together. I think it's time for the leaders in the Church to start paying careful attention and preparing people for the possibility of an imminent Biblical End Times scenario.
Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22.
