JERUSALEM, Israel - In 1947, a Bedouin shepherd wandered the hills of Qumran in search of a missing sheep. He threw a stone into a cave, hoping to drive the lost animal outside. The Copper Scroll. In the years that followed, archaeologists found eleven caves and more than 900 documents here at Qumran. But one scroll was different from all the rest. Donnie's Remarks...
This story relates to the potential discovery of the Ark of the Covenant and its prophetic implications for the world. For Israel, the Ark is the supreme symbol of God's covenant with the nation. It symbolized the power of God's presence when Israel went into battle (See Joshua 6:12, 13). It is on this ark that the high priest, once a year, on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), would enter into the holy place (on the Temple Mount) and sacrifice an animal as an atoning sacrifice for the nation. This sacrifice was a reminder, or a picture, of the coming perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Many Jews believe that the re-discovery of the Ark will lead to the rebuilding of the Third Temple on the Temple Mount. From an end-times perspective, this would be a key prophetic sign that the "end time" is imminent.
